Description

Rubber Soul is The Beatles' landmark sixth UK studio album, released in December 1965. It marked a major development in the band's songwriting and production, featuring classics including Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, Michelle and In My Life.

Pressing Notes

This is the highly sought-after original 1965 UK “Loud Cut” pressing, identifiable by the XEX 579-1 / XEX 580-1 matrices. These early lacquers contained a different mono mix from the later, more commonly found pressings and were withdrawn shortly after release, with the lacquers subsequently recut.

The record carries the classic black and yellow Parlophone labels, with “The Gramophone Co. Ltd.” perimeter wording and the “Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions” text. Original copies were issued in a front-laminated flipback sleeve, with early examples found with either Garrod & Lofthouse or Ernest J. Day printing.

The -1 / -1 matrix combination is the key identifying feature of the genuine Loud Cut pressing.
