Released in 1988, it combines Paddy McAloon's sophisticated songwriting with polished production from Thomas Dolby, Jon Kelly and Andy Richards. Featuring the hit singles The King Of Rock 'N' Roll, Cars And Girls, Hey Manhattan! and Nightingales, the album reached No. 5 on the UK Albums Chart and remains one of the defining British sophisti-pop albums of the 1980s.
