Description:
Cookin' With The Miles Davis Quintet is one of the defining recordings from Miles Davis' legendary mid-1950s quintet, featuring John Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass and Philly Joe Jones on drums.
Originally released by Prestige Records in 1957, the album captures one of the most celebrated jazz groups of all time at the height of their powers. The performances combine Miles Davis' understated trumpet style with Coltrane's increasingly distinctive saxophone playing and an exceptionally tight rhythm section.
The album features four outstanding performances, including the beautiful interpretation of "My Funny Valentine", the hard-swinging "Blues By Five", the energetic "Airegin" and the medley "Tune Up / When Lights Are Low".
This copy is the Not Now Music 2023 vinyl edition, originally issued as part of the Walkin', Cookin', Relaxin', Workin', Steamin' 5LP box set. The box set has been opened and this LP is being offered individually.
