Guitar Man is a distinctive 1981 Elvis Presley album featuring previously recorded vocal performances presented with newly overdubbed contemporary instrumentation. The project gave a selection of Elvis recordings a fresh early-1980s sound while retaining his unmistakable original vocals.
Featuring Guitar Man, Too Much Monkey Business, Clean Up Your Own Backyard, Faded Love, I'm Movin' On and Lovin' Arms, the album offers a fascinating alternative presentation of some of Elvis' later recordings and remains a popular release among collectors.
Pressing Notes
Original 1981 UK pressing on RCA Records, catalogue number RCA LP 5010. This copy features the distinctive RCA LP 5010 A / RCA LP 5010 B matrices together with the hand-etched “KNOCKOUT - BILBO TAPE” and “BILBO TAPE” deadwax inscriptions.
The BilBo inscriptions identify mastering work associated with renowned British cutting engineer Denis Blackham, whose distinctive deadwax signatures appear on many highly regarded UK vinyl cuts.
