Description
De La Soul Is Dead is the second studio album by American hip-hop trio De La Soul, originally released in 1991. Produced primarily by Prince Paul, the album represented a darker and more mature progression from the playful, positive sound of their groundbreaking debut, 3 Feet High And Rising.
The album combines inventive sampling, skits, humour and socially conscious storytelling, with standout tracks including “A Rollerskating Jam Named 'Saturdays',” “Millie Pulled A Pistol On Santa,” “Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey)” and “Keepin' The Faith.”
The album was critically acclaimed and reached No. 7 in the UK Albums Chart, making it one of the defining releases of the early-1990s alternative hip-hop era.
