Description
Alpha Centauri is Tangerine Dream’s groundbreaking second studio album, originally released in 1971 on the influential German Ohr label.
A landmark recording in the development of krautrock, kosmische musik and electronic music, the album marked a major step forward in Tangerine Dream’s increasingly experimental sound, moving away from conventional rock instrumentation towards atmospheric electronics, synthesizers and extended improvisation.
The album consists of just three expansive pieces, including the 22-minute title track “Alpha Centauri”, creating an immersive and highly atmospheric listening experience.
This is the highly sought-after original 1971 German Ohr pressing, catalogue OMM 56.012, housed in its original gatefold sleeve. The first pressing is particularly distinctive because the Tangerine Dream name does not appear on the front cover, with only the album title appearing on the artwork.
