Description
Still is the essential Joy Division retrospective, released in 1981 following the band's tragic end. The double album combines previously unreleased studio recordings, rare outtakes and the complete recording of Joy Division's final live performance at Birmingham University on 2 May 1980.
Produced by Martin Hannett, the collection features the first official release of Ceremony, alongside studio gems such as Dead Souls, Glass, Exercise One, Something Must Break and The Only Mistake, before concluding with the band's unforgettable final concert.
An indispensable release for Joy Division fans and one of the most important albums in the Factory Records catalogue.
Pressing Notes
Early 1981 UK Factory Records pressing, catalogue number FACT 40.
This copy is housed in the standard grey gatefold sleeve, rather than the limited hessian cloth-bound edition issued in the first run of approximately 5,000 copies. The grey gatefold is an original Factory issue in its own right and was released shortly after the limited cloth edition.
Designed by Peter Saville and produced by Martin Hannett, Still remains one of the most celebrated Factory Records releases. Early UK gatefold copies retain the original minimalist packaging and analogue mastering that collectors continue to value highly.
