Released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Beatles' debut single, this special 12-inch edition of Love Me Do was issued in 1982 and faithfully commemorates the record that launched the greatest career in popular music. First released on 5 October 1962, Love Me Do marked the beginning of Beatlemania and remains one of the most important recordings in rock and pop history.

This anniversary release is especially desirable as it includes both the familiar Andy White version of "Love Me Do" and the original 1962 single version featuring Ringo Starr on drums, making it the first UK release to feature the original single recording since 1962.

Original 1982 UK 20th Anniversary 12-inch pressing on Parlophone, catalogue number 12R 4949. Issued in a full-colour picture sleeve with retro-style red Parlophone labels, the release was pressed in mono and mastered by Harry T. Moss (HTM). The record was produced to satisfy long-standing demand for the rare original Ringo Starr version of Love Me Do, which had been unavailable in the UK for two decades. Complete copies remain highly collectible among Beatles enthusiasts.
