Minstrel In The Gallery is the eighth studio album by Jethro Tull and a superb example of the band’s distinctive blend of progressive rock, folk and hard rock.
Released in 1975, the album combines Ian Anderson’s unmistakable vocals and flute with intricate acoustic passages, powerful electric guitar and ambitious progressive arrangements.
Featuring the epic title track Minstrel In The Gallery, alongside Cold Wind To Valhalla, Black Satin Dancer, Requiem, One White Duck / 0¹⁰ = Nothing At All and the sprawling Baker St. Muse, the album remains one of Jethro Tull’s most celebrated 1970s recordings.
A beautifully crafted and adventurous album from one of Britain’s most distinctive progressive rock bands.
Pressing Notes
UK Chrysalis Records vinyl edition, catalogue number CHR 1082.
Originally released in 1975, Minstrel In The Gallery was produced by Ian Anderson and recorded using the Maison Rouge Mobile Studio during sessions in Monte Carlo.
The album marked a return to a stronger combination of acoustic folk influences and heavier progressive rock, following the more concise approach of War Child.
UK Chrysalis vinyl copies remain highly desirable among collectors of Jethro Tull, progressive rock and classic 1970s British vinyl.
