Description

Earcom 2: Contradiction is one of the most important post-punk compilations ever released. Issued in October 1979 on Edinburgh's influential Fast Product label, the six-track EP brought together recordings by Joy Division, Basczax and Thursdays, capturing the energy and innovation of the emerging post-punk scene.

The EP is especially prized for its two exclusive Joy Division recordings, Autosuggestion and From Safety To Where...?, both recorded during the Unknown Pleasures sessions with Martin Hannett. These tracks later appeared on Substance, but their debut was on this landmark release.

Pressing Notes

Original 1979 UK pressing on Fast Product, catalogue number FAST 9B.

Pressed in France by DFI and housed in a distinctive picture sleeve with the original printed inner sleeve, the record also features legendary Porky Prime Cut mastering on one side with the characteristic run-out etchings. As one of the final Fast Product releases, original UK pressings are highly sought after by collectors of Joy Division and post-punk vinyl.
