Description
Description
Arriving as part of Rhino Records' annual Rocktober season, and simultaneously landing on the album's 50th anniversary, 1976's self-titled debut from New York City leather jacket punk pioneers Ramones remains one of the most vital sonic blueprints in the genre's tumultuous history. Recorded in the span of a week at Plaza Sound studio, due to both economic restraints as well as simply being all the time the band needed to lay down this half-hour of historic material that would truly redefine the shape of punk to come, the tracklist reads like a greatest hits collection; opening with the signature banger 'Blitzkrieg Bop', followed by a long line of eternal classics such as 'Judy Is a Punk', 'I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend', 'Chain Saw', 'Loudmouth', 'Havana Affair', as well as the standout Chris Montez cover of 'Let's Dance', which would remain a live staple forevermore. Spawning both an iconic legacy as well as the dawning of the first shades of a new musical movement that would permanently reshape rock music, the Ramones' self-titled debut still serves as essential punk listening five decades on. This pressing also arrives in mono for that extra sprinkle of authentic 70s flare!
