Description
Five Live Yardbirds was released in December 1964 and stands as one of the earliest and most important live British blues albums. Recorded at the legendary Marquee Club in London, the album captures The Yardbirds during the Eric Clapton era, showcasing the band's raw rhythm and blues sound before their later psychedelic and pop success. Featuring extended blues workouts and energetic performances, the record remains an essential document of the British Blues Boom of the 1960s.
Pressing Notes
Original UK first pressing released on Columbia Records with catalogue number 33SX 1677. Early copies feature the blue and black Columbia labels, mono sound, and a front-laminated flipback sleeve. The album was recorded live at the Marquee Club, where The Yardbirds built their reputation as one of Britain's leading R&B acts. Original first pressings are highly sought after, particularly those featuring the original Eric Clapton line-up.
Often considered one of the finest live British blues recordings of the decade, the album captures the band before the arrival of Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, making it a key piece for both Yardbirds and Eric Clapton collectors.
