Description
Traffic was released in September 1968 as the self-titled second studio album by Traffic. Featuring Steve Winwood, Dave Mason, Chris Wood and Jim Capaldi, the album perfectly balances Mason's concise folk-rock songwriting with Winwood's more adventurous and atmospheric compositions. Containing classics such as "You Can All Join In", "Feelin' Alright?" and "Pearly Queen", the album is widely regarded as one of the defining British rock records of the late 1960s. It reached No. 9 on the UK Albums Chart and remains a cornerstone of the Traffic catalogue.
Pressing Notes
Original UK first pressing released on Island Records in 1968 with catalogue number ILPS 9081T. Early copies were issued on the highly collectible pink Island "eye" labels and housed in a gatefold sleeve. First pressings were manufactured by Philips and are among the most desirable versions of the album for collectors of British progressive rock and psychedelic rock.
The album marked the final studio recording by the original quartet before the band's initial split and showcased the group's unique blend of folk, rock, jazz and psychedelic influences. Original pink label Island pressings continue to be highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
