Description
The Who Sings My Generation is the American release of The Who's groundbreaking debut album, originally issued in the UK as My Generation. Released by Decca Records in April 1966, the album captured the raw power and energy of one of Britain's most exciting new bands. Featuring classics including "My Generation", "The Kids Are Alright", "A Legal Matter" and "Out In The Street", the album is now regarded as one of the most influential rock debuts ever recorded. Produced by Shel Talmy, it helped define the sound of the British Invasion and laid the foundations for hard rock and punk.
Pressing Notes
Original US stereo pressing on Decca Records, catalogue number DL 74664. Released in 1966, this American edition featured unique cover artwork with the band posed in front of Big Ben and differed from the UK Brunswick issue in both presentation and title. The stereo edition is significantly scarcer than the mono version and remains highly sought after by collectors of early Who vinyl.
Early Decca stereo copies are particularly desirable due to their historical significance as the first American issue of the album. Original pressings can be identified by the DL 74664 catalogue number and period-correct Decca labels.
