Description
Quadrophenia is The Who’s sixth studio album and one of the band’s most ambitious and celebrated releases. Originally issued in 1973, it is a powerful rock opera centred around Jimmy, a young Mod struggling with identity, alienation and belonging in 1960s London.
Written almost entirely by Pete Townshend, the album combines The Who’s explosive rock sound with atmospheric synthesizers, sound effects and intricate musical arrangements. Roger Daltrey’s vocals, John Entwistle’s bass and Keith Moon’s unmistakable drumming bring Townshend’s ambitious composition to life.
The album features some of The Who’s most enduring tracks, including “The Real Me”, “5:15”, “Love, Reign O’er Me” and “Bell Boy”, alongside the atmospheric instrumental passages that help tell Jimmy’s story.
The original UK edition was released as a lavish double album, housed in a distinctive gatefold sleeve and accompanied by the original booklet. This copy, as so many do, has the booklet missing
