Description

Lovegod is the breakthrough album by The Soup Dragons and one of the defining releases of the Madchester and indie dance movement. Originally issued in 1990, the album combines psychedelic rock, indie guitar pop, acid house grooves and dance music influences into an energetic and infectious collection of songs. Following the huge success of I'm Free, featuring Junior Reid, the album was reissued with the hit opening the record, becoming the band's best-known and most commercially successful vinyl edition.

Pressing Notes

Original 1990 UK first pressing of the reissued album on Big Life Records, catalogue number SOUP LP2R. This edition features the sought-after A1/B1 first-cut matrix combination and was issued following the success of the Top 5 hit I'm Free, which was added to the album as the opening track.

Pressed during the closing years of mainstream vinyl production, UK copies were manufactured in comparatively modest quantities. First A1/B1 pressings of the reissue have become increasingly collectible, particularly among fans of the Madchester movement and early-1990s British indie rock.
