This Is The Story is the acclaimed debut album by Scottish duo The Proclaimers. Released in 1987, the album introduced the unmistakable voices and heartfelt songwriting of twin brothers Charlie and Craig Reid, blending folk, rock and pop with lyrics rooted in Scottish identity and social commentary.

The album features the original acoustic version of Letter From America, alongside favourites including Throw The 'R' Away, Over And Done With, Make My Heart Fly, The Joyful Kilmarnock Blues and Beautiful Truth. Following the success of the later full-band version of Letter From America, the album became a commercial breakthrough and laid the foundations for the band's enduring career.

Produced by John Williams, the album was later reissued in 1987 with the hit Letter From America (Band Version) added as an extra track. This original first pressing contains the original 12-track running order, making it the preferred edition for collectors. Original UK Chrysalis pressings are highly regarded for their warm analogue sound and remain increasingly sought after.
