Description

Rubber Soul is the sixth studio album by The Beatles and is widely regarded as one of the most influential albums in popular music history. Marking a significant artistic leap for the band, the album introduced a more mature songwriting style, folk-rock influences and sophisticated studio production under George Martin. It laid the foundations for the experimental recordings that would follow and remains one of the defining albums of the 1960s.

Featuring timeless classics including Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown), Nowhere Man, Michelle, Girl, In My Life and If I Needed Someone, Rubber Soul is an essential cornerstone of any serious Beatles vinyl collection.

Pressing Notes

Original 1965 UK mono first pressing on Parlophone, catalogue number PMC 1267. This example features the highly sought-after XEX 579-1 first-cut matrix, commonly known as the "Loud Cut", mastered by Harry T. Moss. The first cut was withdrawn almost immediately after release because its high output level caused playback problems on many contemporary record players. Copies bearing the -1 matrix are therefore among the rarest and most desirable Beatles pressings. First issues were released on the black and yellow Parlophone labels with "The Gramophone Co. Ltd." rim text and "Sold in U.K. Subject to Resale Price Conditions" wording, housed in the original front-laminated flipback sleeve.
