Description

Wish You Were Here is one of Pink Floyd's most celebrated albums, released in September 1975 as the follow-up to The Dark Side Of The Moon. The album explores themes of absence, alienation and the pressures of the music industry, while serving as a tribute to former band member Syd Barrett. Featuring the classics "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", "Welcome To The Machine", "Have A Cigar" and the title track "Wish You Were Here", it remains one of the defining albums of progressive rock.

Pressing Notes

Original UK Harvest Records Factory Sample pressing issued under catalogue number SHVL 814. Factory Sample copies were produced in very limited quantities for promotional and internal distribution purposes prior to commercial release and are identified by the distinctive "FACTORY SAMPLE – NOT FOR SALE" designation on the record labels. These scarce promotional copies are highly sought after by Pink Floyd collectors and rarely appear on the market.

This edition was originally issued in the famous black shrink-wrap with the handshake sticker attached to the exterior and included the postcard insert. Factory Sample examples of Wish You Were Here are among the most desirable variants of the album and represent an important piece of Pink Floyd collecting history.
