Irish Blood, English Heart marked Morrissey's triumphant return after a seven-year absence and was released in 2004 as the lead single from the critically acclaimed album You Are The Quarry. Written by Morrissey and Alain Whyte, the song combines driving glam-rock guitars with one of Morrissey's most outspoken and politically charged lyrical performances, exploring themes of identity, heritage and national pride.
