Description

A Love Supreme was released in 1965 and is widely regarded as one of the most important jazz recordings ever made. Recorded by the classic John Coltrane Quartet featuring McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones, the album is a deeply spiritual four-part suite that blends modal jazz, hard bop and avant-garde influences. Pressing Notes

Original UK mono pressing released in 1965 on HMV Records with catalogue number CLP 1869. Unlike the US Impulse! edition, the UK release was mastered by EMI from second-generation safety copies of the original master tapes supplied to the UK and stored at Abbey Road. These HMV pressings are renowned for their excellent manufacturing quality and distinctive sound presentation.

First pressings feature the black HMV label, front-laminated flipback sleeve and early matrix numbers. Original UK mono copies are highly sought after by jazz collectors and regularly command strong prices on the collector market.
