Description
Nursery Cryme was released in November 1971 as the third studio album by Genesis and was the first to feature both Phil Collins and Steve Hackett. Widely regarded as one of the defining progressive rock albums of the early 1970s, the record combines complex musicianship, theatrical storytelling and ambitious arrangements across classics such as "The Musical Box", "The Return Of The Giant Hogweed" and "The Fountain Of Salmacis". The album marked a significant step forward in the band's evolution and laid the foundations for the celebrated Peter Gabriel-era Genesis sound.
Pressing Notes
Original UK first pressing released in 1971 on the highly collectible Charisma pink scroll label. Early copies feature the textured gatefold sleeve with B&C Records credit and the famous pink scroll Charisma labels that were used prior to the introduction of the Mad Hatter design in 1972. Original pink scroll Genesis albums have become increasingly sought after by collectors and are considered among the most desirable Charisma pressings.
The first UK pressing was manufactured and distributed by B&C Records Ltd. and is easily identifiable by its textured gatefold sleeve, pink scroll labels and early HILTOP mastered matrices.
