Pressing Notes

Original UK Columbia Clef Series pressing released in 1959 with catalogue number 33CX 10087. Issued by EMI under licence from Clef Records and producer Norman Granz, this edition forms part of the highly regarded Columbia Clef Series which introduced many classic American jazz recordings to the UK market.

The album was recorded in Los Angeles during the celebrated Art Tatum Group Masterpieces sessions and features an all-star quartet including Red Callender on bass and Bill Douglass on drums. Original Columbia Clef Series pressings are increasingly difficult to find and remain highly sought after by collectors of 1950s jazz vinyl.
