Description

The Beatles' historic debut single, “Love Me Do” / “P.S. I Love You”, originally released in the UK on 5 October 1962.

This is a desirable red Parlophone label pressing featuring the missing closing bracket on the “P.S. I Love You” writing credit, a documented early label variation.

Pressing Notes

Original 1962 UK Parlophone pressing, catalogue 45-R 4949, with the distinctive red Parlophone label and silver printing.

The Side Two publishing credit is printed as “(Lennon-McCartney”, with the closing bracket missing. This is a recognised variation of the early red-label pressing. The red-label versions were issued between October 1962 and February 1963, with the missing-bracket variation documented among the early issues.

The single carries matrices 7XCE 17144-1N and 7XCE 17145-1N; the -1N version of “Love Me Do” is the recording featuring Ringo Starr on drums.
