Description
The Queen Is Dead is widely regarded as The Smiths' masterpiece and one of the greatest British albums ever recorded. Released in 1986, the album captures the band at their creative peak, combining Johnny Marr's intricate guitar work with Morrissey's distinctive lyrics and vocals. Featuring classic tracks such as "The Queen Is Dead", "Bigmouth Strikes Again", "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out", "The Boy With The Thorn In His Side" and "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others", the album remains a defining release of the indie rock era.
Pressing Notes
Original UK first pressing issued on Rough Trade Records under catalogue number ROUGH 96. This copy includes the desirable original front cover hype sticker and the illustrated credits inner sleeve. First pressings are identified by the early MPO matrices and the famous runout etchings "FEAR OF MANCHESTER" and "THEM WAS ROTTEN DAYS". Copies retaining the original hype sticker are significantly more sought after by collectors, particularly when complete and well preserved.
